With more than 28 years of industry experience, there’s no one more knowledgeable about Smart Home than Ryan Herd. He is the owner of a highly successful Smart Home installation company (1 Sound Choice), and the author of the informative new book, Join the Smart Home Revolution.

As a local entrepreneur, Ryan has been in the audio- video industry for over 28 years. He started out in his first business at the age of 19. He specialized in car audio applications, inventing new audio concepts and proprietary technology in automotive sound design. He took it to unexpected heights, winning national recognition for excellence and creativity within the car audio industry.

In 2001, Ryan established a home theater company. The switch from automotive audio systems to residential audio/video integration pushed him to increase his education, certification, and experience in home integration systems, to stay ahead of the cutting edge in new in-home, audio/video applications. Within three years, he had built a dynamic, technically superior, and customer-driven team, which designed and built some of the most impressive high-end custom home theaters in existence today.

Under his direction, this home theater company was routinely recognized as one of the nation’s premier in-home theater design and electronics integration firms, as well as an authority for low voltage electronic systems with residential applications.

Today, Ryan is Owner and CEO of 1 Sound Choice, LLC, specializing in Smart Home Automation, audio-video, home theaters, and specialized lighting. He also consults for several smaller audio/video firms, Manufacturers, and Builders. Ryan is an active member of the National Home Builder’s Association (NHBA), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), and The Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA).

Ryan has addressed numerous trade and professional conferences on the subject of smart home technology. These include JLC Live, a New England Construction trade show, the International Builders Show, The Morris County, NJ Chamber of Commerce’s technology committee, Gerberama Long Island, as well as Coldwell Banker events in Miami, Denver, San Antonio, Michigan, and New Jersey.
