Carnig (Carney) Minasian is one of the 3rd generation owners of the Minasian Rug Company in Evanston, IL. a high-profile store dealing in antique Persian and European carpets. He has been involved in all aspects of the business, including buying overseas, production of their own line of rugs, wholesale and retail of rugs and carpets as well as cleaning, restoration, and appraisals.

Carney served for 12 years on the advisory board of the Textile Museum in Washington D.C. and has taught courses on Oriental rugs at Northwestern University, including an advanced course to students getting their certification as appraisers.

Carney was one of the keynote speakers at the American Society of Appraiser’s International Conference in Minneapolis and has guest lectured at several schools, museums and societies around the Midwest.

Carney is currently serving on the board of ARZU, a non-profit organization helping women in Afghanistan through weaving. His knowledge of cleaning and restoration has brought his firm business from many prestigious collectors who trust them to restore their 16th to 19th-century carpets.
